Prison Shame of Ex-Premier League Striker

A former England international and Premier League footballer has been jailed after admitting online banking fraud.

Nile Ranger, a striker for Southend United, was sentenced to eight months in prison for conspiracy to defraud by obtaining bank details and transferring money.

The 25-year-old, from north London, conspired to use the bank details of Diane Bloss in February 2015 and move more than £2,000 from one account to another, a court heard. Ranger played for Newcastle United, England Under-19s, Swindon Town and Blackpool football clubs before moving to Southend on England’s Essex coast in August.
